Everything’s unprecedented.

In 2008, I moved from Florida to New York City to watch the global economy fall apart. I was 24 and just starting my career in personal finance. They were “unprecedented times,” a term that keeps applying to millennials and our challenges as we move through life.

As a millennial financial adviser, I’ve been afforded an intimate look into our generation’s evolving perception of money, success, culture, and family. When we proclaim, “This is the top!” are we really asking, “Is it?” Will the market keep flourishing? Is this the peak of my career? Am I wasting or savoring the best moments of my life? We can’t help but ask, because we have no roadmap. Our unprecedented lives require a different set of rules, and This is the Top will explore them.

About Douglas Boneparth

I am the president of Bone Fide Wealth in New York City and a millennial finance expert. I’ve been named one of Investopedia’s top 10 most influential financial advisors in the country, and I sit on CNBC’s Financial Advisor Council and the CFP Board of Ambassadors. The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal featured me in sweatpants at the height of the pandemic, but you can find me across financial media rather often.

Along with my wife and business partner, Heather, I co-authored The Millennial Money Fix: What You Need to Know About Budgeting, Debt, and Finding Financial Freedom (Career Press 2017), a primer on managing six figures of student loan debt without living in your parent’s basement and reaching financial freedom on your own terms. We have two little girls, Hazel and Ruby, who always keep us guessing.

For fun, I enjoy hand-pouring coffee, playing tennis, wearing tie-dye, and making jokes. Share a laugh with me on Twitter and Instagram.
